FROM THE BEGINNING-
I wanted our family gatherings to be more fun, so I purchased a small bubble machine. I quickly noticed how these little bubbles created so many little smiles, especially when I took it out in public. So why mess around with small toys and not just go BIGGER? That led me to a larger machine, producing hundreds of bigger bubbles and bigger smiles. When Covid-19 hit us all in 2020, it seemed humanity died with it. Good feelings, happiness, kindness, and empathy POPPED and were replaced with hate, resentment, anger and lack of respect for others.
THE DISCOVERY-
I wanted to be part of the solution so I chose to do something positive and constructive. How much effort is needed to make someone smile? When I was a child, I recall my pop making these long bubbles in the 80's with aplastic stick and a rope. I then did some research to discover the art of creating giant bubbles. I found many different DIY solutions online. Some ingredients worked while others, not so much. I religiously tested the next couple months, with many trials and errors, until I found one that was perfect for me. NOTE- Weather plays an enormous part for any large bubble. The perfect weather conditions are cooler temperatures, high humidity, and very mild wind, as these factors will define your bubble. Heat and lack of moisture can evaporate the thin water membrane surrounding the bubble and pop, while high winds will rip through them.
THE DRIVING FORCE-
For a while, I produced these gargantuan bubbles for my community, hoping that the sight of them would provide enjoyment, relaxation and help someone forget their worries, even if only for a short time. I admit, this was just as much for me as it was for others. The amazement onlookers had were priceless. The colors these bubbles can display, while the sunlight reflects off them, is magnificent. The size and distance my bubbles can reach is remarkable (weather permitting.)
It was not long before I started getting inquiries about doing parties and other events. One year passed by as my pop asked, "Why not?". Every time my pop and I put on our bubble "show", we were approached by many people thanking us, sharing with us that they were having a bad day but our bubbles brought out their joy and turned a bad day into a better one. And that, as they say, was that.
With my pop's motivation and encouragement, my pop and I have been bubbling together and will continue doing so until the bubble pops. What a wonderful feeling to be able to share this magic with my "Bubble PoP". I only hope the love and joy we create for others is used as a catapult to forget our troubles for a moment and play with the bubbles, maybe remember what it's like to be a child again, and remember to love more, respect more, and help others more.
We got bit by the bubble bug, will you?
At the end of the day, the work I enjoy the most is when the audience feels connected to our performance. Even if it's for just a moment, if our show allows people to forget their worries and stress and they can remember that feeling we all had as a child playing carefree, I am humbled to be able to provide that experience. Anytime someone leaves a show thanking me for "making their day better" reminds me that I was able to bring them joy, even if it was a brief moment. What more can you ask for?
I am fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful towns with wonderful people and weather. I am proud be able to share my joy and art of bubbles with everyone and perhaps continue to teach or learn something new. Having my pop with me from the start has been critical in our burgeoning success. He has many fantastically bonkers ideas to make what we do together even more unique and spectacular. For example, glow-in-the-dark bubbles. Wait what? In fact, having my pop with me from the very beginning encouraging, motivating, and being my bubbling wing man has put me where I am today. He is proof that you are never too old to feed your inner child and let them out to play.
